So many people in our community are touched by cancer. It could be a friend, a neighbor or loved one. Dealing with the effects of treatment are challenging, and complementary therapies have been shown to help relieve symptoms and provide comfort for those who use them.
Cancer Support Sonoma offers complementary therapies to help cancer patients reduce the physical and emotional symptoms of conventional cancer treatments such as fatigue, nausea, depression and anxiety. Services are available to anyone in the valley and surrounding areas who has (or had) cancer, from the time of diagnosis throughout treatment and into recovery. Our therapies include acupuncture, oncology massage, lymphatic massage, naturopathic counseling, energy medicine, jin shin jyutsu (Japanese acupressure), Ayurvedic consultations, craniosacral therapy and reflexology.
Over 2500 healing sessions to 115 patients on a sliding-scale basis. Since 2015, Cancer Support Sonoma has been providing low-fee complementary therapies to people in our community who are undergoing cancer treatment. In addition to these services, our patients enjoy a supportive environment where they can relax and socialize with other CSS clients.
Help Us Serve the Needs of Our Neighbors
“Please let me know when I can come back. I don’t know what I’ll do without all of you. You’ve been my lifeline.”
–Cancer Support Sonoma Patient
At the end of October 2017, when our arrangement with Sonoma Valley Hospital ended, Program Director Pam Koppel decided to start a non-profit and seek new funding sources.
Now we are turning to you, our Sonoma supporters, to help us transition into an independent 501(c)3 organization so that we may continue to provide these life affirming services.
In order to make this effort successful, we are counting on support from local residents and businesses. You can help by:
- Joining the Board of Directors
- Working on the Fundraising Committee
- Becoming a Clinic Volunteer
- Making a Generous Donation
